Join us for an opportunity to meet Kieran Dent, Agent for the South East and East Anglia for The Bank of England.
In 2023, Kieran Dent assumed the role of Agent for the South East and East Anglia. This position reflects his commitment to understanding and engaging with economic developments at the regional level. As our Agent, Kieran plays a vital role in providing valuable insights into the economic landscape of the South East and East Anglia regions, further strengthening our organisation's commitment to informed decision-making.
As part of The Bank of Englands commitment to transparency and communication we are pleased to host this off-the-record briefing on the latest assessment of the UK economy and their associated position on monetary policy. This briefing will be based on the Monetary Policy Report published in February.
The event will also provide an opportunity to hear from the Bank of England about their recent response, in partnership with HM Treasury, to their 2023 consultation paper 'The digital pound: A new form of money for households and businesses?'. Kieran will be joined by colleagues from the Bank who will summarise the reasons that a potential digital pound is being explored, what it might look like, what they've heard from industry and the general public so far, and what the next steps are as the digital pound work enters its 'design phase'.
