This week we were delighted to welcome attendees to the Holiday Inn Southend for a fabulous evening of networking with our Patrons, London Southend Airport. The twilight event was a perfect opportunity for so many businesses to connect and engage with representatives from the airport to discuss the future of the local area.

Our CEO, Denise Rossiter, welcomed everyone and announced that the Chambers south Essex office will be relocating. As of the 1st January 2025, it will be a new year and a new office as we move into the Launchpad in Rochford. This is an exciting development for the Essex Chambers as we join an established community of businesses in the bustling Airport Business Park. Denise invited attendees to visit us in our new home.

Denise also spoke to attendees about a recent tour we facilitated of The London Construction Hub at the Port of Tilbury. Meetings like this will form the basis of a new select networking group of Tier 1 construction suppliers and will contribute towards our lobbying efforts on the Lower Thames Crossing project.

After Denise’s opening, she introduced Nigel Mayes, the Business Development Director of London Southend Airport. With 30 years in the industry, Nigel is responsible for establishing relationships with airlines and expanding London Southend’s network of flights. As part of his work, he is eager to engage with businesses to understand their flight requirements. He also discussed with attendees their vision for the future of the local area.

After a phased approach to opening services after the pandemic, the airport is now back to pre-Covid levels of operation. There are also big plans to exceed pre-pandemic passenger numbers, with approved planning permission to extend the terminal, future investment plans to recruit and an exciting development of easyJet establishing a permanent base at the airport. The easyJet base not only means access to more fabulous destinations but also a boost to the local economy as they look to recruit local crews and staff to facilitate them.

There was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the event as guests enjoyed delicious food and forged great connections with fellow attendees. Thank you to everyone who came together to make this event such a success.
