Employers Creative & Cultural Survey Results

Alongside the sector deep dives we are creating we have been reaching out to local businesses to understand the challenges and barriers facing them.

The sector focus is Creative and Cultural

When asked what skills would help to improve the workforce the responses were varied but a lot of responses said experience was needed and that having soft people skills was important. This sector also provided some responses that were very specific to the business such as knowledge of the museum or history.

 

When asked why the business didn’t offer apprenticeships the main reason was funding.

 

When asked what type of work placement would add value to the business, there wasn’t a specific response and was more about specific skills such as understanding collections and mixing rather than adding value to the business.

We asked what networks people were involved in and of those that were involved a number said the local councils, local colleges. There were a few responses that said they belonged to museums Essex and the national trust.
